In Unit in Reaction, the kingdom of reality is suspended when a supposedly familiar setting is altered by the unexpected. The dancers adapt to this unusual environment, transforming the choreography into necessary actions that move towards situations. These significant movements inspirit the use of objects, the choreography, and the dramaturgy.
Godani conceives environments and geographies that contain hidden foundations. He leaves space for the audience to explore an unmapped landscape in which choreography moves between different planes: the intangible qualities of the material world with established existing objects, and the accepted purpose of such objects, as well as their alterations. In this unmarked territory, nothing completely disappears. What came earlier, continues to underpin what follows. There is a threshold in which dancers embody the intersection of choreography and the environment. Space becomes organic in the togetherness of the groups, and in the angularity of the individuals within groups, consequently offering the choreography directness of expression. This whole reterritorialization of the stage and space -the repurposing of the landscape- encompasses the dance itself and, moreover, a vision of a future.
In Unit in Reaction, Godani once again collaborated with the composer duo 48nord who created a fascinating electronic musical horizon for the choreography.
