With the founding of The Forsythe Company GmbH in 2004 under the artistic direction of William Forsythe a unique cross regional Public-Private Partnership has been created, the first of its kind in Germany. In 2015 Jacopo Godani has been appointed as artistic director.
A cooperation contract was signed with the states of Saxony and Hessen and with the cities of Dresden and Frankfurt am Main, guaranteeing roughly 75 percent of the financial budget for The Forsythe Company GmbH. This cooperation agreement was extended several times and is now agreed until the year 2023. Ticket revenues and touring productions form an success-related element in the companys financing. Private sponsors and project partners are relied on for further funds. The Forsythe Company GmbH guarantees its cooperation partners and sponsors transparency and powers of financial supervision in line with best practice corporate governance.
The following name change took place at the beginning of the year 2019. Previously: The Forsythe Company GmbH, as legal entity for the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company. Since January 2019: Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company GmbH.
