As a designer, Aleisa Jelbart is particularly interested in highly visual, movement based work. After graduating from Design Centre Enmore in 2011, she assisted designers on a number of productions, took up the position of Designer for Matriark Theatre and designed the costumes for a short film featured in Opera Australia’s 2013 Ring Cycle celebrations.
At the end of 2013, Aleisa Jelbart was awarded the 2014/15 Hephzibah Tintner Fellowship for Production Design, allowing her the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s leading cultural organisations. During 2014, she assisted designers on Sydney Dance Company’s Interplay and Louder Than Words, assisted Designer Robert Jones on Opera Australia’s Don Giovanni and designed costumes for Sydney Dance Company’s New Breed.
In 2015 Aleisa Jelbart designed Opera Australia’s schools show Cinderella, realised the costumes for Sydney Dance Company’s Frame of Mind and designed the costumes for Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Dance Company’s collaboration, Le Grand Tango. She assisted Designer Jenny Tiramani on Opera Australia’s The Marriage of Figaro and once again designed the costumes for Sydney Dance Company’s 2015 New Breed season.
