Ashley Alexandra Wright

Next to dance, there is nothing in my life where there is so much unlearning and learning happening at the same time.

Ashley Alexandra Wright studied at the Australian Ballet School and the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. She began her professional career with the Royal Ballet of Flanders and then joined Opéra de Lyon. Beginning in 2016, she established herself as a freelance artist in Berlin and was also a member of Emanuel Gat Dance. As a choreographer, she has created works for the Royal Ballet of Flanders, Opéra de Lyon and Tanztheater International in Hannover. Her multi-episode saga “Drama, Chaos, Confusion and Madness” (2018) was performed at Frankfurt LAB. Since 2018, she has collaborated with Cyril Baldy, which resulted in performances of “Variation for Ashley Wright” in Melbourne in 2018 and “Variations for a Few” at Frankfurt LAB, among others. The work with Baldy on his Sentient Method has had a major impact on her relationship to dance, and what she has learned inspires her in the studio, on stage and beyond. In addition to her choreographic and dance activities, she produces music for various stage productions and for live installations and films.
